Key Achievements
- Architect and Project Manager for multiple custom web-based applications for Department of Defence, NSW RTA, Reserve Bank, Tab Limited, Challenger, Hanson, Cisco etc.
- Product Manager and Designer and for several successful SaaS web applications, with clients including large corporations and government departments around Australia.
- Designed, built, staffed and managed a specialist web hosting centre. This included everything from redundant network and power, up to hosted applications design and lead programming on critical code and developer APIs.
- Started building web sites in 1994. In 1995 wrote a web shopping application in Perl which used URL-rewriting for persistence, since not everybody's browsers had cookies yet!
- Designed and built a Cadastral Mapping GIS with a team of two other people way back in 1990. This system ran on mainframe equipment, used a relational database and a CAD/CAM system as the front end and including spatial query extensions to SQL. The query system we built was based on then-new research by the CSIRO on spatial search algorithms.
- Completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computing Science at University of Technology, Sydney, having graduated Dux of my high school with highest marks in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Geography.

- Software architect and project manger for Blue Chip clients including Department of Defence, Reserve Bank of Australia, KPMG Global, Macquarie Bank, Cisco and many others. Software architect for SaaS applications and legacy integration.
- Manager of five staff, including analyst/programmers and support.
- Pre-sales support and custom solution architect for client applications.
- Highest escalation point for client technical issues.
- Provide technical leadership to entire company - CTO role.
- Liaise with CEO on technical, product direction and marketing decisions.

Firmware Design Pty Ltd
- Designed and developed SaaS applications for e-commerce for use by web
development companies. - Designed, built and maintained robust web hosting network.
- Linux and Windows system administration.
- Buy/build decisions and software design and programming for CRM, Voice, Accounting, Mail
and Billing infrastructure. - Managed a team of programmers and support staff.
Interactive Titles Programmer : 1992
THe Voyager Company (Santa Monica, CA, USA)
The Voyager Company was a pioneer in multimedia and electronic text formats. Worked on a variety of CD-ROM titles, including electronic books and interactive video titles. Duties included interface design, programming and development of test plans.
Technical Systems Officer : 1991
Schlumberger (Ridderkerk, The Netherlands)
Responsible for deployment of software upgrades to retail outlets, including troubleshooting and maintenance of field systems. Duties included dealing with clients, installing system upgrades and maintaining equipment.
Analyst/Programmer : 1989 - 1991

- Designed and built custom GIS system on mainframe environment.
- Coding, database implementation and integration with CAD/CAM system.
- Client liaison and on-site installation.
- Clients included Gold Coast City Council and Penrith City Council.

IBM Australia
Design and implementation of new internal software systems to support IBM warehousing operations.
Personal Interests
- I love maps. My father was a Marine Cartographer for the Dutch Navy, and I grew up with a keen interest in maps and new places.
- I own a 1972 Chrysler Hardtop which I love to drive and tinker with. Its my second one, having "finished" my first one a few years ago.
- I enjoy photography, and own two digital SLR cameras and a range of lenses. (As well as a shelf full of analogue cameras!).
- Choral singing - I've spent 17 years singing in various choirs.
- Cycling - I enjoy MTB riding - here's the Google map I did for my last big birthday bike ride, which included info on the train to get and meeting places.
